You gain 1 plug, (3 insted of 2), that are marginably protectected against electrical surges. Yes the "powered" LED is too bright but might be useful to some as a weak nightlight. It will charge in GFI circuits--the problem is the DummyGroundPlug on the back interfers with the fit. It has to be shaved to fit the wall recepticles ground plug holes! They're slightly wider apart.
USB charge ports SHOULD BE SEPARATE, 1000ma.circuits with their own "charging/charged" indicating LEDs.

Good quality product with annoying green light

Product can charge my family's collection of devices easily with no ugly USB converter brick on the wall. The device sticks out about an inch from the wall but it looks nice where I have it. I would love to buy more for the bedrooms and office but there is a green light on top that would annoy me. The light is bright and unnecessarily large. No way to turn it off that I can find.
The device is well built and I expect that it will last a long time.

Plug DOES NOT work in kitchens or bathrooms.
The plugs in kitchens and bathrooms are GFCI which is required by building codes. The Targus Plug is Not deigned for GFCI plugs. The package from Targus has a toaster on it plugged into the power station. This example is not possible in most homes.
